Apartments in West Covina Unified School District

When you’re gearing up to move and have kids in tow—or if you’re ready to start a family and like to plan ahead—it’s important to factor in their access to education. When you choose an apartment in West Covina Unified School District, like the ones we offer at Torrey Pines, you’ll be providing a fantastic home in a welcoming community for your children, plus they'll be able to attend some of the best schools you could hope for.

Like most worthwhile school districts, WCUSD—which services around 14,000 local students—promises to deliver stellar education in each of their 17 schools. They do this by providing flexible course scheduling and keeping class sizes smaller, allowing for individuals to get the attention they need, rather than getting lost in the shuffle as is becoming so prevalent nowadays.

Dual Language Immersion Program

Of particular note in this district is its Dual Language Immersion Program. Through this unique program, students can choose between learning Mandarin or Spanish—two languages they’re very likely to encounter in their community. The ultimate goal for students, by the end of their studies in this intensive program, is fluency in whichever language they choose, as well as biliteracy and a deeper understanding of different cultures. Upon graduating high school, students that have reached a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in a second language are eligible to receive the California State Seal of Biliteracy.

Great Athletics

Athletically minded students will benefit from a series of upgrades the school district was able to recently unveil, thanks to a $143-million-dollar bond measure. In September 2018, they reopened a newly renovated football stadium that now seats 4,500 spectators and features new turf and a state-of-the-art sound system. In addition, the track encircling the field got a rubberized surface upgrade, which provides consistency for athletes and is impervious to adverse weather conditions.

 Performing Arts

Another amazing project that came from the same bond measure: The brand new, 650-seat West Covina Unified School District Performing Arts Center. This place has all the bells and whistles, so the students who use it get a full, real theater experience. There’s a full scene shop, dressing rooms, and even prop and costume storage. But it doesn't stop there; the facility also houses a television broadcast studio and video editing lab. This is the ultimate center for any student of the arts.
